Finding ways to minimize that distance will help youmaximize your opportunity with Walmart\u2019s\u00a0Free 2-Day and\u00a03-Day Shipping program.<\/p>\n<p>You can do this with a number of different approaches:<\/p>\n<h4><span style=\"color: #00458f;\"><br \/>\nRegionalization<\/span> <img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-129758 alignright\" src=\"http:\/\/www.rithum.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/08\/Asset-54-1-300x224.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"438\" height=\"339\" \/><\/h4>\n<p>Walmart has created the ability to reduce the regions to which you offer expedited shipping methods in Seller Center. While this will reduce the number of buyers\u00a0that will receive your\u00a0Free 2-Day\/3-Day offer in search, it will help you reduce the cost of shipping associated with that listing.<\/p>\n<p>Zone charts from carriers provide\u00a0a template for identifying the regions that will support\u00a0expedited delivery\u00a0requirements.\u00a0Using these charts for your preferred ship method (i.e., ground) will\u00a0also help you estimate the cost to add new items to the program to help you find the balance between\u00a0pricing yourself out of the Buy Box and losing money due to costly shipping.<\/p>\n<p>Regardless,\u00a0shipping sticker shock can be limited by starting small and working your way\u00a0to the outer limits of your preferred ship methods coverage zone.<\/p>\n<p>While Ground may be necessary for some selection, USPS Priority Mail is available\u00a0to fulfill\u00a0Walmart\u2019s 3-Day\u00a0order volume.\u00a0The ability to leverage this ship method is a great way to lower the price point for products that\u00a0remain profitable within this delivery promise.\u00a0Weekend delivery is not considered in the 3-Day promise so weekends may offer the opportunity to flex your regions.<\/p>\n<h4><span style=\"color: #00458f;\"><br \/>\nFulfillment Expansion<\/span><\/h4>\n<p>Rather than reducing the area to which you offer 3-Day, you may consider increasing the area to which you offer\u00a0expedited ship options\u00a0at a reasonable ship cost\u00a0by expanding your fulfillment network.\u00a0While this may not be\u00a0a reasonable approach in every circumstance, understanding\u00a0the\u00a0available options may help you plan for growth.\u00a0We focus on two of the most common methods.<\/p>\n<h4><span style=\"color: #00458f;\"><br \/>\nSeller-owned warehouse<\/span><\/h4>\n<p>This option provides the most control, but also the most complexity and cost.\u00a0Owning the warehouse gives you the oversight to implement\u00a0your process, resolve performance issues,\u00a0and\u00a0maintain independent carrier relationships.<u>\u00a0<\/u>However,\u00a0you will also need to staff and manage your warehouses,\u00a0implement and maintain the technology and physical assets, and cover the startup and ongoing costs.<\/p>\n<p>The expansion location will be critical as making a poor decision may have lasting\u00a0implications.<\/p>\n<p>Additionally,\u00a0it can be time consuming to implement which may mean lost opportunity.<\/p>\n<h4><strong><span style=\"color: #00458f;\"><br \/>\nThird party logistics solutions (3PLs)<\/span><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-130158 alignright\" src=\"http:\/\/www.rithum.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/08\/image004-300x167.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"439\" height=\"245\" \/><\/strong><\/h4>\n<p>As an alternative to owning\/operating your own warehouse network, 3PLs\u00a0have some distinct advantages when trying to scale your business.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Existing warehouse network.<\/strong>\u00a0An\u00a0experienced 3PL has built a network of warehouses\u00a0to allow you to stage inventory close to your buyers.\u00a0These networks may offer you the ability to expand placement for popular items and during peak times while\u00a0maintaining the long tail in fewer locations to reduce cost.\u00a0<strong>\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Software and technology\u00a0<\/strong>Many\u00a03PLs have adopted software and processes to\u00a0differentiate themselves among a crowded field of startups\u00a0and regional solutions.\u00a0These solutions may provide insight into demand, inventory health, and\u00a0operational costs.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Fulfillment expertise<\/strong> You are entrusting your marketplace business to your 3PL, so ensure that they understand the unique requirements associated with supporting a marketplace business.
