With the start of the buying journey now online, customers are looking for an all-around experience with multiple digital and in-store touchpoints. Buy online, pickup in store (BOPIS), curbside pickup, and 2-day delivery gives shoppers access to the products they need anytime, anywhere.<\/p>\n<p><strong>BOPIS and curbside pickup meet the need for convenience and contactless <\/strong><\/p>\n<p>BOPIS and curbside pickup are having a moment. According to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rithum.com\/resources\/key-findings-from-the-2021-top-1000-retailers-report\/\">Digital Commerce\u2019s Top 1000 Retailer Report<\/a>, shoppers are using these options more than ever with 75% of shoppers completing an in-store or curbside pickup in the past 6 months. 22% of these shoppers doing so more than 11 times.\u202f 73% of top 1000 retailers now offer BOPIS \u00a0(growing by 11% in 2019) and 54.2% offer curbside pickup \u202f(growing by 44% in 2019).<\/p>\n<p>Leveraging physical and digital enhances the customer experience. Consumers that opt for BOPIS tend to make additional purchases once they come in-store to get their orders. This helps retailers to build stronger customer loyalty and attract new customers. It\u2019s faster than shipping, more personalized for the consumer, and provides a vehicle for increasing foot traffic in-store.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-128737\" src=\"http:\/\/www.rithum.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/08\/Blog-Quote-Commerce360-01-289x300.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"520\" height=\"541\" \/><\/p>\n<p><strong>Keep customers happy with innovative fulfillment options and fast delivery <\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Same-day delivery is an option more consumers are using with 36% of shoppers ordering from a direct-to-consumer (DTC) \u202fretailer for same-day delivery and 26% from a physical store for same-day delivery. Speedy delivery impacts purchase decisions. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rithum.com\/resources\/key-findings-from-the-2021-top-1000-retailers-report\/\">Digital Commerce found<\/a> that consumers are less likely to make a purchase when a retailer gives them a delivery date of more than 3 days. Consumers also want ample communication touchpoints for orders. Retailers need to be able to give full visibility from the moment of purchase on through to delivery (especially for larger items like furniture and electronics) including status alerts and notifications of any issues or delays.
